ESA Magazine features Turtle Bay Camp
As you well know, once you've heard about Madagascar you immediately start dreaming of those white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters... Even more so if you've been on one of our famous Dhow Island Hopping Trips or had the good fortune of fishing off Turtle Bay Camp with the infamous Fergus O'Brien!

For those of you who don't know Turtle Bay camp yet, it's our very own island off the north western coast of Madagascar! And for those that do know it... it's a fisher's paradise! Currently, our very own Turtle Bay Camp is being featured in the extremely popular ESA (Extreme Sports Angling) Magazine! It includes a detailed 5 page spread with enticing images and fantastic information about this beautiful Madagascar Island.
You can read the article by either getting a copy from your nearest specialist fishing or magazine outlet (unfortunately it's only available in SA) or by following this link to view the online article (you can also download the PDF if you want)...
"As a small boy I dreamed of being marooned on a desert island with just my Boy Scout survival skills and my fishing rod to keep me alive. The idea of no school, no chores and a successful escape from my sister was part of the appeal. Even as an adult I've found myself drifting off to the escape of my mental desert island to break the boredom of a tiresome meeting or to remember that good times are out there - somewhere. Imagine my delight when I heard that my dream desert island escape exists!"
"A buddy of mine spent a week fishing from a 50ft yacht with five guys, fishing where the finder took them and testing out the famous local rum. Apparently both rum and fishing were exceptional. Two different sets of friends took their families on a dhow trip around various islands. When questioned, all three groups mentioned the same source for their trips - a local company called Jenman Island Safaris. When I tracked them down - not hard, they're all over the internet - I learnt to my surprise that they also own my dream island escape - Turtle Bay Camp... " Click here to read the entire article

National Geographic features Tsingy
National Geographic is one of our favourite publications. When the magazine arrives on our desk, many of us find ourselves pouring through the pages searching for new holiday destination inspiration... we open up one of their editions and start dreaming of our next getaway.
We were thrilled to open up the November 2009 edition to find a comprehensive article on Tsingy! Below are a few exerts from the article, the rest of the article can be found on our blog - click here

"The tsingy formations of Madagascar are one of the places on Earth that hold extraordinary biological treasure. You just have to go in and look around."
"Observing the tsingy from the sky, pilots have been reminded of the deep urban canyons of Manhattan, where an angular, chaotic skyline descends into a grid of streets and alleys, building and parks, everything underlain by a circulatory system of pipers, sewers, and train tunnels. The metaphor applies to the tsingy's inhabitants as well, because the formations have become like rows of high-rise apartment buildings, providing shelter to a different array of species at each level."
"Thousands of eyes glinted in the darkness orange and green jewels, the eyes of nocturnal lemurs known only here, of geckos with skins as smooth and iridescent as a trout's, of large spiders and moths, their bodies thin as shadows. The night itself was becoming refuge, a kind of temporary continent, enclosing the stone city (tsingy) and all its creatures, the named and the still nameless."
