Surfing

Ifaty beach, situated along the south-west coastline of Madagascar, is peaceful and remote and thus far not very well known for its amazing surf – surf that’s awesome enough to make any avid surfer never want to leave.

Any surfer, no matter what your experience, will thoroughly enjoy surfing Madagascar! Waves range from those suitable for the beginner to those safe for only experienced, veteran surfers – whatever your preference and needs, you won’t be disappointed!

The easiest way to experience this fantastic surfing opportunity is to go out by boat, have your guide pick your spot depending on your surfing experience, and then spend the day in the warm waters surfing to your heart’s content.

Aside from surfing, the offshore reefs are incredibly beautiful, and diving and snorkelling can easily be arranged for you.

The Waves

Jelly Babies

Jellie Babies has a mellow right beginner wave and works best on low tide. If the wind swings to easterly directions you will enjoy the 100 m ride over soft coral. Not a localized spot, but can have crowds from other camps.

** boat access only

Flame Balls

Flame Balls is another well promoted surf spot and therefore can have surfers from Anakao surf camps. The long hollow left point break offers the perfect right for advanced surfers. Best on high-tide and a little risky on the low, it can handle the SE traders but definitely works best with easterly winds. If the conditions are right - a good chance to get barreled in this 300 m long wave over hard coral reef.

** boat access only

GG's

Looking for a short hollow right? This is your spot. Works best on easterly conditions, a little shorter (50m) than the spots above and breaks over soft coral reef. Level: Intermediate - Advanced

** boat access only

Ifaty Left

Check that picture on the left? Long (very long) - 200 m - left point break, only for advanced surfers. You will have the best ride of your life with easterly wind conditions in mid-high tide. Breaks over hard coral Reef.

Ifaty Right

Uncrowded spot, only accessible by boat. A hollow right for advanced surfers which works best on low tide with easterly windes. You can ride the wave for about 150 m over hard coral reef.

TT's

Long hollow left point break, advanced - works on high tide with easterly winds. Only spot that can also handle SE trades and the North-Easter. Long ride, very long - 500 m - over hard coral Reef.

** boat access only

North Pass

Secluded long left point break for intermediate to advanced surfers. The 500 m long wave proofs to be best in low tide with easterly winds. Also can handle the SE trades. Ground: hard coral reef.
