Nosy Iranja consist of two islands connected by a 1500 metre sandbank which can be walked across at low tide. The stunning beaches surround the island which are covered with coconut palms and tropical flowers.
The bird life is diverse and the island is also home to huge Coconut crabs. The bigger northern island - Nosy Iranja Be, is home to a delightful lighthouse designed by Gustav Eiffel, and a small village inhabited by the local fishermen.
Description:
The Southern Island hosts the Legacy-owned Iranja Lodge – a luxurious resort where each of the 28 suites overlook the fabulous ocean reef. With a private terrace offering comfort and privacy, guests can enjoy the sounds of the sea whilst relaxing under the hands of a trained masseur.
The island has many attractions and amenities, one of the most notable being that it is an important breeding reserve for hawksbill turtles. If you request it, the staff will wake you in the night to lead you to the egg laying areas, where respectful monitoring of the breeding project takes place under the eye of a scientist from Nosy Be.
