Kalakajoro Island is situated on the northwest coast of Madagascar, and is the smallest and most northern of the four islands of the Radamas archipelago. It is a beautiful destination, and is not thoroughly explored in terms of its fishing and fly fishing potential. Open tropical flats make for an excellent saltwater fly fishing experience, for the elusive bonefish and many other tropical fish species. The waters are beautifully clear and you can explore them by snorkelling, on sea kayak, as well as by ski boat.
Just 3 km off Turtle Bay beach you will find the continental shelf dropping from 10 to 100 meters, running parallel along the coast for 13km. From here you can enjoy some excellent fishing. In addition, Kalakajoro has a dense, impenetrable forest on the south side of the island, thus providing visitors many opportunities to view wildlife.
The Radama Islands are an important nesting and feeding ground for marine turtles, but little is known about populations in this area. The green Chelonia mydas and hawksbill Eretmochelys imbricata turtles live along this coastline. In the Radama Islands, the levels of turtle nesting activity vary. The green and hawksbill turtle nesting is concentrated in different areas around the four islands that make up the Radamas islands
